Adobe Creative Cloud Is Down, Rendering Apps Unusable... Chat Support Useless | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Man down! And by man down, we mean Adobe Creative Cloud. Starting late yesterday afternoon, a number of subscribers to Adobe’s Creative Cloud platform stared noticing that upon trying to use our applications or login to  with our Adobe IDs.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Having problems with Adobe's Creative Cloud, you are not the only one. Besides having no clue what is going on with the site, all we can to do is sit back and wait. In the end we may have to find an alternative.

Adobe Opens Up CC Photography Bundle to Everyone for a Limited Time

Adobe Opens Up CC Photography Bundle to Everyone for a Limited Time | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

When Adobe officially announced its special Creative Cloud plan/bundle for photographers, there was a catch: you had to own Photoshop CS3 or above in order to qualify for the special $10.month pricing. Well, no more. For a limited time, Adobe is lifting that restriction and making the special bundle available for everyone.

In case you didn't read our previews coverage, here's what you get when you sign up for the Photoshop Photography program, as it's called: Photoshop CC, Lightroom 5, 20GB of online storage, a Behance ProSite, access to Creative Cloud Learn's training resources and ongoing upgrades and updates.

Or course, there is still one catch. This isn't a month to month plan, it requires that you sign up for 12 months at a time. Still, it's a pretty solid promotion for those who use the Adobe suite of products only for photographic purposes, and that price will never go away as long as you continue renewing before your year is up.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

More news from the Creative Clous side, if you were worried that you woundn't be able to own this product...now you can. But not for a month by month basis, you'll be paying year by year. But for this bundle, for photographers...this is a dream com true.

Adobe Servers Hacked, Product Source Code and Data At Risk

Adobe Servers Hacked, Product Source Code and Data At Risk | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Adobe has disclosed that there has been a breach in their servers, and hackers had access to encrypted data for as many as 2.9 million customers. Adobe is stressing that the data is encrypted and that they "do not believe the attackers removed decrypted credit or debit car numbers."

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Whoa, that has a relying friendship with Adobe...you might want to step back for a bit. But it's not shocking with all of the new advancements on Photoshop that someone would hack, such a giant milestone.

How to Transition from Photoshop to InDesign - SitePoint

How to Transition from Photoshop to InDesign - SitePoint | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

In case you decided to switch from Adobe Photoshop to Adobe InDesign, you may feel a bit intimidated like I did. It’s a new piece of software, and that usually implies some (usually steep) learning curve. Guess what? You got it all wrong. It was easy, painless, and for the most part I was able to transition seamlessly.

First thing’s first, why do you feel the need to switch over to InDesign in the first place? In most cases, you’ve been handed a project by a client that is in the .indd file format. Or, maybe you’re latest project is a multi-page publication.

InDesign allows you to define a layout and then gives writers the ability to change up the content on the fly without destroying your well-designed layout. Sure, you can try to design a 12-page publication in Photoshop, but you can be sure of one thing — the editors are going to come in at the last minute and want a bunch of new content added or cut out. This can completely change your layout and which text flows from one page to the next.

InDesign is going to be your best bet if you want to have quick control of the global document without having to mess with multiple documents in Photoshop.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Have you felt like switching from Adobe Photoshop to Adobe InDesign? InDesign I think would be more for the magazine publications, or in another case if you are the illustrator...and you've been handed a work-load towards the end of your day. This could become your life saver.

eMotion is an app for creating interactions between human movement and electronic visuals. It's been described as Adobe Illustrator on acid.

Described simply, eMotion is a physics-based animation system that uses human motion to interact with projected graphics in real time. The open source software, originally built by Mondot back in 2006, allows users to decide how lines, points, letters, grids, or whatever visual they choose interact with certain types of motion. Mondot describes it succinctly: “Think of it as Adobe Illustrator on acid.”

Adobe Launches $9.99/Month Photography Program With Photoshop CC, Lightroom 5, Behance And 20GB Of Online Storage | TechCrunch | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

TechCrunch is a leading technology media property, dedicated to obsessively profiling startups, reviewing new Internet products, and breaking tech news.

Adobe today announced its Photography Program, which for $9.99 per month offers photographers who own a previous copy of Photoshop (starting with CS3) access to a “lite” version of Creative Cloud with Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5, as well as a Behance membership with access to Adobe ProSite and 20GB of online storage."

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Now as a limited time offer (until December 31, 2013), even after the time expires, it's users will still pay $9.99 a month. Without a compelling offer to photographers, this was Adobe's next move.

Top 10 Reasons to Use Lightroom | Psdtuts+

Top 10 Reasons to Use Lightroom | Psdtuts+ | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Many Photoshop users are not aware of the many advantages of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. In fact, many will tell you that they aren’t really sure what it is used for and how it differs from Bridge. In this tutorial, we will explain a bit more about what Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is used for and will highlight 10 reasons that you should start using this fantastic app today. Let’s take a look!

Keywords can save you a lot of time when trying to find specific photos, but it also takes time to properly add them to all your photographs. This is another area where Lightroom really shines. Bridge is good for keywording too, but Lightroom has so much more to offer. You can apply keywords while importing photos, you can add them to groups of selected images, you can apply them quickly with the Painter tool and you can even assign keyboard shortcuts to a set of keywords.

This feature was introduced in Lightroom 4 and it opened up a completely new way of organising photographs by their geographic location. If you have a GPS device in your camera then you won’t have to do anything as your photos will automatically be placed on the map in the Map module.

Previously, we talked about the fact that Lightroom doesn’t change the photos, it only records the amends separately into a database. Based on this technology Lightroom offers a great way to save several different edits of the same photographs using Virtual Copies. The biggest advantage with this is that you can save a lot space on your computer, as you don’t need to duplicate files whenever you want to compare different edits.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Do you know any of these tricks? Like the virtual copies you can save of one image. Editing your video files, even though it is not Adobe Premiere, it will correct white balance and basic exposure detail. A nice detail for me was the photo books.

What is Adobe Camera RAW? | Psdtuts+

What is Adobe Camera RAW? | Psdtuts+ | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it
When the Adobe Camera RAW plugin was released back in February of 2003, it instantly became a must-have tool for photographers. Since then, the plugin has been frequently updated to support more cameras and more features. Adobe Camera RAW is available as part of Photoshop CC and is built upon the same powerful raw processing technology as Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. In this tutorial, part of a comprehensive series on Adobe Camera RAW, we will explain what Camera RAW is and how you can use it to make non-destructive edits to your photos.
Kitty Fisher's insight:

Not a lot of people know what Adobe Camera RAW is...exactly. Without getting to tech-savvy. It's just using RAW to save and to create a non-problematic edit of your photos. So no more copying and saving various edits of the same image.
