iOS 7 photo and iPhoto tips and tricks: Getting the most out of your iPhone pictures - Pocket-lint

iOS 7 photo and iPhoto tips and tricks: Getting the most out of your iPhone pictures - Pocket-lint | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it
The iPhone camera is one of the most used phone cameras in the world. But how do you make the most of the images and photos you've taken with the iPhone and iPad cameras? Apple has added plenty of new features in iOS 7, including in its new version of iPhoto, which comes free with all new iPhones and iPads. Try some of these tricks to help you make even more.

The Photos app is now sorted by years, collections and moments. These are smart groupings of your photos and videos based on time and place. iCloud Photo Sharing has also been added so you can create a shared photo stream with a select group of people. Those people can post photos, videos and comments to your stream, and it all appears on everyone’s iOS devices in their Photos app. iCloud Photo Sharing is accessible in a tab via the Photos app.

Photos, Shared, Albums

Your photos are now spilt into three sections: Photos, Shared and Albums. Photos shows the moments etc, Shared shows you Shared streams with others through iCloud, Albums breaks out specific types of pictures like Camera Roll, Photo Stream, Panoramas, Video and any folders apps you've created.

Seeing what photos your friends are taking

That's where all your iCloud Photo Stream images are now show and it means you can see what you've shared and what has been shared with you easily. Think of it like the Facebook News stream, only for images, and without all the crazy algorithm stuff.

See where you took a photo

In the Moments page in Photos tap on the location of where the collection of photos was taken and you'll be able to see on a map where in the world you were when you took the photo.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

iCloud Photo Sharing is one of the apps that, probably the majority of anyone has. But knowing what you can get out of your photo experince. involving sharing your photos, organizing them and what albums you've accumulated in a year. This app gives you the advantage of being sorted in years, collections and moments.

At first glance some might dismiss the iPhone 5S as a clone of its predecessor, but look closer and you'll find a few subtle differences. There's a faster processor, better camera and fancy fingerprint scanner to name but three.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

When you get a new phone, you always wonder what apps you should put on there. The ones that you need and the ones that...well a helpful guide can help eliminate which apps have several advantages. And which ones you don't need on there. Personally the TurboScan, has me hooked. Whether it's old letters or important documents I need on hand, instead of bringing your laptop or tablet. The Week’s Best Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows Phone Apps

The Week’s Best Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows Phone Apps | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

If you have a happy trigger finger, and like looking over past memories, Memoir is for you. It’s an app that collects all your photos, tags places travelled, and steals your social media posts to provide you with easy access to all of them. Memoir can dig out photos of you and friends instantly if you request them, and can show you what you were doing at this moment a year ago, for nostalgic effect. However, if you want to forget something (trust me, we all do) then the app makes it easy to edit and remove “memories” too.

DogVacay: Best. Invention. Ever. Who likes sticking their dog in a kennel while they jet off to a romantic break/sun holiday/chinchilla ranch? Nobody, that’s who. Poor Fido stuck in a cage, freakin’ out because he’s a chihuahua with a rottweiler as a neighbour. Well hey, here’s an alternative: DogVacay is like an AirBnB for pets. Book a dog-sitting stay through a fairly straightforward process in-app, cough up the agreed amount, et voila. Fido gets cuddles from a stranger instead of PTS.

Hamlet: Explore Shakespeare: Cambridge University Press has been releasing a series of Shakespeare plays as iPad apps in the last while; the latest of which is Hamlet (one of my favourites). You basically get the full text, an audio “performance” and photos of the more well-known productions of the piece, with a huge amount of interactive features all aimed to give you a better understanding the play. Especially good if it’s on a secondary/uni syllabus.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

This is a round up of the best and coolest ipad, iphone, android and windows apps that are inventive and fun to play with. A favorite so far is the 'memoir' app. Tagging your photos to where you were, reliving memories that seem to stay with you. Another app that has to be more a helper than any other would be Linqapp, which promises assistance from native speakers, if you are abroad and need help with the language, this is free and instant.

App simplifies photo editing | Arab News — Saudi Arabia News, Middle East News, Opinion, Economy and more. | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Exbel, designed by Yaser AIMajed, a Saudi-based app developed and photographer, is a double exposure application for iPhone that creates impressive images in just a few minutes.

Exbel app is the most suitable application for iPhone users seeking to intergrate images in a simple manner. The designing and programming of the application is convenient as it allows you to capture an image directly and combine it wth another image from your gallery profile.

Normally, double exposure photos require starting with darker, silhouetted images against a clear background, and then applying a second image via layering techniques. Exbel tries to solve this problem by making the process easier.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

The Exbel app can elminate the use of an extensive time-consuming layering on Photoshop. Within minutes, being able to combine two photos...this is big. I could easily make a photo a double image or a movement based form of digital art. It may not be the exact results that you would achieve in Photoshop but it will come incredibly close.

New iPhone 5S Coming: What to Expect At Tomorrow's Apple Event

New iPhone 5S Coming: What to Expect At Tomorrow's Apple Event | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

At its headquarters in Cupertino, Calif., Apple will hold an event on Tuesday that it says will "brighten everyone's day." Beyond that Apple hasn't said much about its next phones, but thanks to rumors, leaks and heavy speculation, we have a pretty good handle on what is coming at the gathering, which begins at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET.

Think of the iPhone 5S like the iPhone 4S -- an update to the current iPhone with some new tricks. According to the leaks, the iPhone 5S will look like the 5, though it might come in a new gold hue. It is expected to have one big difference though on its home button: a fingerprint reader.

According to leaks and some leaked software code in iOS 7, the fingerprint sensor will allow you to log into the phone with just a swipe of your finger. Other improvements are said to include a faster processor and a better camera. So if you are holding out for an iPhone with a bigger screen than the current 4-inch display, it looks like you are going to have to wait a bit longer.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Don't go out and buy a new iphone just yet. There are two coming out tomorrow, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. The latter is a lower-cost version.
