LG G Pad 8.3 Receives Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update @ Weeder

LG G Pad 8.3 Receives Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update @ Weeder | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

The update started rolling out as early as Friday last week, with more reports coming over from LG G Pad 8.3 owners in the last few days as well. There’s no official changelog available from LG, which can tell us about the changes and bug fixes that Android 4.4.2 brings for the tablet.

The update is rolling out over-the-air (OTA) and should reach all LG G Pad 8.3 GPE tablets in the coming days. It usually takes some time for the roll out process to finish, so you might have to wait for some time. If you can’t, you can check for the update manually from device settings now and then.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

LG G Pad 8.3 received the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, so all of the owners of a LG G Pad should be receiving or already updated their tablets. If not check it out manually from the device, it may take some time.

Video Shows How the Viral Finger-Painting of Morgan Freeman May Have Been Faked | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it
Last week, a video showing how a hyper-realistic iPad finger-painting of Morgan Freeman (inspired by this portrait by photographer Scott Gries) came together made the viral rounds faster than most.
Kitty Fisher's insight:

Instead of this being about a film of Morgan Freeman's, it's about that super realistic finger painting that was created by Kyle Lambert. Well know people have started point fingers asking about whether what he created was real or simply just taking the original photograph and working backwards as they say. Will Lambert come out and so his skill but with a video this time?

Briefly: Akvis Magnifier adds 64 bit, interior design app MyFourWalls | MacNN | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Image processing developer, Akvis, has announced its release of version 7 of Magnifier. Available for Windows and Mac operating systems, Magnifier provides tools to resize digital images without losing quality, and is able to not only reduce an image's resolution, but increase it by dozens of times with no halos or artifacts. Intended to be easily configurable, Magnifier can be used with its preset tools or have its parameters adjusted to one's preference. Version 7 of Magnifier includes new tools as well as native support for 64-bit for Windows.

Akvis Magnifier's new features focus on overall improved function of the software. A Crop tool has been added to the standalone version, which lets users trim an image. The Share option in Version 7 offers the user the ability to post images from Magnifier to their chosen social media platforms. Batch processing bugs have been fixed, and more improvements can be found throughout the program. Current users of Magnifier can upgrade to version 7 for free, and Magnifier 7 can be downloaded as a free 10-day trial. The full version of Akvis Magnifier for new users can be downloaded from Akvis for $90.

MyFourWalls 1.0 released, able to create 3D interior design plans

Synium Software's MyFourWalls has been released, offering users the ability to create a new interior for their home in 3D. With customizable rooms and furniture available, users can test different aesthetics before renovating their space in real life. Its 2D editor is optimal for drawing floor plans -- supporting CAD as well as standard views -- and can then be switched to 3D to do a 'walkthrough' of the space that has been created.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

This is a combo between an app and AKVIS Magnifier 7.0, which is being upgraded for registered users. Magnifier resizes images without the quality becoming grainy. The updates are an overall focus feature that has been implemented with the cropping and sharing tools.

MyFourWalls 1.0 is for the interior designers that need to layout some blueprint like plans.

Instagram to arrive for Windows Phone soon

Instagram to arrive for Windows Phone soon | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Instagram is an image and short video sharing social network that works majorly through the mobile platform.

Instagram is one app that was missing in the Windows Phone platform's hat. Last month, Nokia announced of working closely with Instagram and promised to release it soon. Now a Twitter user, named Nawzil, claimed to have spotted Instagram's Windows App but the download link now redirects to an inactive Windows Phone Store link. Since the app is not yet live, it is quite safe to assume that the Instagram app has been submitted and might go live in Windows Phone Store anytime soon.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Good news Window Phone users, you will be able to be apart of the Instagram world shortly. Supposedly a Twitter user had sent out a link to an app that, sadly has been disabled now. But Nokia has come out saying that they have been working with the Instagram company to solve the issue, so Window's users can become a member of the image and video sharing network.

Apple Reportedly Set To Buy 3D Sensing Company As It Prepares For New Generation of Devices That Can 'See'

Apple Reportedly Set To Buy 3D Sensing Company As It Prepares For New Generation of Devices That Can 'See' | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

After years of incremental innovation, the smartphone industry recently began rolling out novel features like the fingerprint scanner in the iPhone 5 and the curved display in the Samsung Galaxy Round. But gadget lovers looking for a good reason to upgrade may want to hold out for the next generation of iPhones or iPads.  According to interviews with sensor and camera makers, devices that include 3D cameras could be landing in consumers’ hands sometime in late 2014.

Tal Dagan, vice president of marketing for PrimeSense, which makes the leading 3D sensor available today, initially declined to comment on the timelines of PrimeSense’s OEM partners.  “I don’t believe any small vendor such as we would know accurately anyway,” he said. But Dagan also didn’t want to leave the impression that a competitor would be first to market. “I can say we are deeply involved with a couple of projects, and, yes, I think you will see 3D capabilities in a phone or tablet in 2014,” he conceded.

Last night, two weeks after my interview with Dagan, an Israeli newspaper published a report that PrimeSense had been bought by Apple for $345 million. AllThingsD reported today that an offer has been made, and a deal is expected to close by the end of this week.

Companies like Qualcomm are already creating the software that developers will need to incorporate 3D sensor data into mobile games and augmented reality apps. And judging from the success of a recent Kickstarter campaign for a 3D sensor that attaches to the outside of an iPad, the public can’t wait to get their hands on the technology. Occipital, a San Francisco-based startup, initially sought $100,000 for the Structure Sensor it built on top of PrimeSense. In less than four weeks, it raised almost $1.3 million.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

As of right now, Apple is set to buy a 3D sensing company on top of the PrimeSense that was also recently bought. As these companies gear up for 3D software that needs to be incorporated into mobile games an diferent apps. So are you going to go out and buy that iPhone that's on your wish list or will you wait until the 3D sensor as an upgrade to the technology, we have already come to know and love.

It’s Easy To Share Your Photography With The World @ Weeder

It’s Easy To Share Your Photography With The World @ Weeder | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

The internet allows us to share information with the world. If you have created an online gallery or blog about your photography then you will probably know that one drawback is sharing multiple networks., which takes time. If your work is shared by others then that's great, but if not then there are a few tricks and tools you can use to automate things and make your life a bit easier.

A good place to start when settin up a gallery or blog is WordPress (like FPR). As the most popular blogging platform in the world, there are millions of resources online for advice and additional functionality for your site.

Once you have a site set up, and your adding your images and thoughts about photography on a regular basis, you can start to think about streamlining your sharing processes. Below are a few of the automated tools that I use to share to various social networks.

Jetpack plugin for WordPress.

Jetpack has built in functionality to share your work to a number of networks automatically, these are:

Facebook, Twitter, Linkedln, Tumblr and Path.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Putting your photography online in a gallery, isn't enough. You need to network or at least share on your network, whichever one you are on. And if you happen to use WordPress this could make your accomplishments more noticable an time saving.

iPad Air Review: It's Going to Be an iPad Christmas

iPad Air Review: It's Going to Be an iPad Christmas | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Apple Offers 'Substantial Upgrade' With iPad Air.

Day after day, week after week for the last few months new tablets have come marching out of technology companies, holding their touchscreens high, ready to fight to find a home in your hands. Amazon's Kindle Fire HDX, Samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1, Google's Nexus 7, Microsoft's Surface 2, Lenovo's Yoga, Asus Transformer Pad: the list could go on of the new tablets introduced in preparation for the big holiday season.

And today Apple's newest entry marches on out. The iPad Air hits shelves today; it's a lot thinner, lighter and faster than last year in hopes it will defend its lead and prime spot under Christmas trees, next to menorahs and on tables for those agnostic gift givers. But are Apple's hardware improvements enough to stand up to the heavy competition this year? Is it, as Tim Cook has said, really going to be an iPad Christmas?
Thinner and Lighter Than...
"Thin and light" is likely the most overused and abused term in the technology industry. Sixty-inch TVs are described as thinner and lighter, huge desktop replacement laptops get thinner and lighter (though still weigh seven or eight pounds), even routers get the "thin and light" description.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

The biggest question on everyone's lips is...will I get an iPad Air for Christmas? And if not, you or someone you know may be thinking it.  Since it hits the shelves today what will your decision be to get it or to wait a little longer to read more reviews? I for one...may have to put this on my Christmas Wish List.

Practical Advice for the Emerging Photographer | Stella Kramer

Practical Advice for the Emerging Photographer | Stella Kramer | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Certain photographers, the ones who derive a visceral pleasure from what they do, possess a kind of enthusiasm, wonder, and openness about life that keeps them continually contributing to the larger world of photography. Last week, I had the opportunity to talk with three such photographers — David Carol, James Estrin, and Ben Lowy — at the 30th Annual PDN PhotoPlus Expo at New York’s Javits Center. The subject of our conversations was the challenges and opportunities for emerging photographers. Common mistakes emerging photographers make, Carol is direct: “They put the cart before the horse. Forget about shows, forget about books, forget about being famous, forget about people knowing who you are. Take the first 10 or 15 years to figure out how to be a fucking photographer.”

Kitty Fisher's insight:

What do you need to know as an emerging photographer? David Carol whose career began in the 80's gives out the most needed 'what we need to hear' knowledge about what can get in our way, of our photographer's eye.

This Video Proves How Mind-Blowingly Deceptive Photoshop Really Is

This Video Proves How Mind-Blowingly Deceptive Photoshop Really Is | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

We've been told time and time again that Photoshop is playing tricks on us, stretching, smoothing and buffing the models in magazines and ads to make them even more gorgeous (and less realistic). But just how much can airbrushing really change? Just watch this mind-blowing video, "Body Evolution." The video, created in 2011 by GlobalDemocracy.com to deman mandatory disclaimers on all photos of airbrushed models, demonstrates just how much a computer is capable of changing a body.

While we can't be 100 percent certain the video, which surfaced again recently, is representative of what happens behind-the-scenes at every magazine today, it does make you wonder...

If models are getting the treatment seen in this video, it's no surprise lingerie model Erin Heatherton once said about her photos, "I feel like it looks like someone else. I guess it's not fair... You look better, but it's a lie."

Kitty Fisher's insight:

It's scary to see just how far photoshop can go. When do we know when to stop and when we can use it? Maybe it's one of those age old questions about what can be used for good and what can be used for the wrong purposes.

You may have been one of the many to recently receive an email telling you that, it was your account that was hacked. This Weekly Round Up: Gloup Makes Storytelling a Cinematic Event, Adobe's CC Bundle and LoryStripes Goes Universal

This Weekly Round Up: Gloup Makes Storytelling a Cinematic Event, Adobe's CC Bundle and LoryStripes Goes Universal | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

This week we have rounded up a selection of great apps and a bundle that will make every photographer dream in filters. With an app called LoryStripes that has hit a universal market, to Gloup a wonderful storytelling adventure. And as well as Adobe's Creative Cloud that has a new offer for everyone and not just it's members.

Adobe has announced that the Creative Cloud that they had come out with sometime before, has now another limited release. But it's not just for the previous members of Photoshop CS3. Again for a limited time it will be available to everyone. And if you are wondering about an catch, if you wanted to try it out just for the month...you'll instead have to pay for the whole year. Would you still try out Photoshop CC?

http://petapixel.com/2013/11/20/adobe-opens-cc-photography-program-everyone-limited-time/

Storytelling is a pastime, that has now been transferred into an App. Gloup is for sharing with family members or friends, where you can tell short video stories because of co-founders Andres Duran and Daniel Correa. These second long clips, do not require any editing, which will be a nice "time off" from the usual Instagram varitey. And to add an "silent film era" quality...the Gloup videos are muted so you can focus primarily on the visuals.

http://www.consumerelectronicsnet.com/article/Gloup-the-New-Storytelling-Video-App-Lets-Users-Capture-Moving-Pictures-of-Everyday-Life-and-Swap-Them-with-Friends-2929514

With this last article, LoryStripes has gained recognition for it's unique photo editing. Now with the support of both iPhone and iPad, where you can add stripes and ribbons to any image. A cool addition is that when it comes to an object, these ribbons can be wrapped around the subject or woven through. Using the masking feature you can make them 3D but all the more, you'll have a realistic feel instead of it just looking as if someone had drawn a line with a pen.

http://appadvice.com/appnn/2013/11/lorystripes-photo-editing-app-goes-universal-with-native-ipad-support

For this bundle of articles, it goes to show that as apps come out more and more, the improvement of quality is outstanding. Combining a fun time with silent montages of events. To making Photoshop ready for virtually anyone that wants to grab ahold of the technology. Last but not least, inviting stripes in to your image for an everlasting effect. This round up certainly has the creative side up pass the bar. What might you accomplish with these ideas.

Google Working to Bring RAW Capability to Android Phones

Google Working to Bring RAW Capability to Android Phones | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Given the incredibly positive response Nokia got from the photo community when it announced that Lumia phones would soon be able to capture images in DNG RAW, it makes sense that operating systems other than Windows Phone would soon follow suit. Lo and behold, it seems Google is on the cusp of just such an announcement itself.

The news hit the Internet thanks to Android app developer Josh Brown, who noticed some code that seems to indicate RAW+JPEG capture capability is on its way, it just wasn't ready for the KitKat release.

According to Ars Technica, Google began work on the API all the way back in Decemeber of last year, but about a monh ago (around the time when companies put a stop to all new developments and switch gears to bug fixing ahead of a major release) work on the API was put on hold.

Other improvements found in the un-released API include support for burst mode, and face detection which can be used for everything from facial recognition to focusing. There’s also mention of built-in support for “removable” cameras — which has most people picturing the Sony QX10 and QX100 — but the wording is vague enough that we won’t speculate on that.

No word on when these improvements will finally reach Android phones, but it looks like nine months after Google’s Vic Gundotra asked users to “just wait and see” how awesome the cameras in Nexus phones were going to get, Google might finally be ready to deliver on those words.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Once one system has captured ahold of the RAW+JPEG movement, Google was close in second. Now Android, but the KitKat release wasn't ready but now it is. As Google was working on the API, but had to stop to fix the bugs involved, it was put on hold. Since then, major improvements have been made, and a letter of "just wait and see" has been on the horizon.

Common Photoshop Mistakes, Are Your Instagram Pictures 'Blue' Enough and Camera Awesome Is Here

Common Photoshop Mistakes, Are Your Instagram Pictures 'Blue' Enough and Camera Awesome Is Here | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Common, common mistakes happen to us all. Especially when Photoshop is involved. What can we do to make sure we don't fall into that routine of over editing or a big one...not saving your results. Surprisingly enough this is one of the most common happenstances. But understanding the CMYK is vital, this is for industrial printing, so stick with your traditional RGB. Be careful with how carried away you can get, and also short cuts are wonderful but figuring out the whole mechanics of Photoshop...will be a successful venture.

Blue enough? Really, to gain the 'likes' for your Instagram photos, you should focus on the tint of them. And in this case, it should be a blue tint. Also check on your cropping, apparently people are looking at how spacious or close cropped each image is. I think it goes to show just how critical people's standards are. But even though you may not want to tint everything blue, having a dominant color is beneficial. Oh and one more, no one wants to look at a photo that doesn't have some brightness to it.

Camera Awesome has arrived! And that means that after 20 months of correcting the glitches and mess ups, it is now in app form. Crazy enough this one ended up being more complicated than the iOS. But only the most popular versions will work with this program. So this faster camera, with high-quality filters.

Ironically the word 'lighter' means little in the tech world, since it's used for virtually everything. But you can actually feel the difference in the new iPad. With the bigger screen being more on the kid side of handeling and playing games, the pixel resoultion is of the highest clarity.

Neurocam is Like a Google Glass Camera That You Control with Brain Waves

Neurocam is Like a Google Glass Camera That You Control with Brain Waves | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Google is planning on rolling wearable camera glasses out to the general public in the near future, so we may soon be hearing utterances of "okay glass" all around us as owners snap photos with voice control. If using your voice as a shutter isn't your thing, you might want to start waiting for the Neurocam. It's a crazy iPhone-based camera system that uses your brain waves to snap photos!

A prototype of the camera was demonstrated at the Human Sensing 2013 conference in Japan last week. It basically looks like an iPhone strapped to the side of your head. Brainwave sensors connected to your head attempt to measure your interest in the things you look at based on how your brain responds.

Interest level is measured on a scale of 0 to 100. When your brain waves top 60, then the camera shutter is triggered. Although the phone is pressed flatly against your head, a prism connected to the camera gives the phone the same view as your eyes.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

We've gone from pressing on a shutter button, to voice activated, now to brain waves capturing an image. Of course Google is behind this invention unrolled at a Sensing 2013 in Japan last week. Would you feel comfortable having an iPhone attached to the side of your head, calculating basically what your interest levels perked up to be, so the image would be snapped. Meaning what ever you witness or see, will be captured.

What Photoshop Can Do To The Body, PicsArt Monthly and Google+ Gets Improved

What Photoshop Can Do To The Body, PicsArt Monthly and Google+ Gets Improved | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

The recent Photoshop video that has been making it's rounds around the internet, created by GlobalDemocracy.com. Has people up in arms about what Photoshop has contorted the female  and male image. The video titled 'Body Evolution.' How far has airbrushing gone? I mean we've heard about celebrities suing magazines and the before and after photos that make us shake our heads in disgust. When do we know the fine line between what is natural and what looks good?

PicsArt has come out with their very own monthly magazine! This is exciting because PicsArt has a dedicated community of photographers and creators that lend a hand in our own inspiration. You can read the magazine for free on the site, giving you tutorials of the photographers biggest secrets, along with exclusive interviews from the masters themselves. Also you need to check this out because your own art may have made it inside of PicsArt Monthly.

Google+ has updated it's photo editing features along with a handful of others. It'll make video calling, messaging and editing easier on you. Generously, google+ has added backups and background syncs to all iOS app devices. Reorganzing them so you can find whichever photo you've been looking for, so much easier. Instead of going through each photo, you now can now search them from sunsets to snowmen. But my favorite has to be the new Auto Awesome video tool. Where you have control of three different action styles, one being a strobe light effect that can make anything seem creepy or staring in a horror film.

iPad Air, A Refocusing app for Nokia and Improving Your iPhone Experience with Instagram

iPad Air, A Refocusing app for Nokia and Improving Your iPhone Experience with Instagram | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

The new iPad Air is 72 times faster than the origianl, thinner and weighs exactly a pound. If Apple condenses their technology any more, we all will be wearing app watches...wait that exists as well. Now that this is even more easily able to be carried from place to place, perfect for the 'go-getter' in your family. For $399 this will be available starting Novemeber 1st. Will you wait for the reviews to come in before purchasing the new tablet or will you be one of many standing in line the day it comes out?

The Nokia Lumia...never seem to fail. After coming out with an endless supply of apps and now an International Mobile Photography Day...what will be the next step? Well an app by Nokia has just been introduced as the Nokia Refocus Lens. Which acts as a Lytro-like camera. This is a stand alone app, althought details are basically non-existent. The app will take anywhere from two images to several just to combine the perfect in focus image, you wish to have.

Is Instagram the best app out there, for sharing and editing photos? Majority of the signs point to yes but there are one or two apps that can help better your instagram experience. How about the Squaready Pro, which acts as the cropping tool in Instagram...but it's used as your viewfinder so you don't have to crop anything out to being with. Then with Flipagram you can have your very own 15 second slide show. Finding apps that better your Instagram experience is a blessing in disguise, what will they come up with next.

Windows 8.1 review

Windows 8.1 review | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

A year ago, Microsoft "reimagined" the look and feel of Windows, and placed a risky bet on the future of computing. Touch is everything, it said, and nearly everything about Windows 8 was designed to be used in a world without laptops and desktop PCs. But most people still use laptops and desktops, so Microsoft hedged its bets and built a desktop mode as well. Millions of people installed Windows 8, but Microsoft’s two worlds, each with different applications, created a steep learning curve with Windows 8 that wasn’t familiar for traditional Windows users.

With Windows 8.1, a free update designed to address some of its users’ concerns and enable a faster pace of Windows releases, Microsoft tries to bridge the gap between old and new, between mouse and touchscreen. The new OS looks and feels mostly the same, but its many small tweaks make for a significant update — and hint at the future of Microsoft's vision for its own computing platform. Microsoft is completely invested in Windows 8, and it’s been busy over the last twelve months, but making Windows 8.1 into something easier and more familiar is no small task. Microsoft’s chance to usher in the touch-friendly, tablet-filled future it imagines — take two.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

The reviews are in! Windows 8.1 shows a steady race into the forefront of improved technicalities. Getting rid of the age old PC to a newer step towards the touch interface recogintion software. Windows may have out done itself by far, as of yet.
