Get A Beautiful And Powerful Photo Capture And Editing Experience With ProCamera 7 -- AppAdvice

Get A Beautiful And Powerful Photo Capture And Editing Experience With ProCamera 7 -- AppAdvice | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

ProCamera 7 ($0.99) by Cocologics is the brand new iOS 7-only version of the award-winning pro camera app that was introduced years ago. If you’re a serious iPhone photography fan with iOS 7, then this is one of those apps you’ll want to check out for yourself.

ProCamera has been around for quite some time, and it earned many fans because of it’s powerful features, while still remaining pretty user-friendly for even the average photographer. Even though I’ve mostly switched to the native Camera app for now in iOS 7, I still enjoy third-party camera apps for their feature sets, like Camera+ 4, and now ProCamera 7. Photography has always been something I’m interested in for fun, and while I don’t think I’m a pro, it’s still incredibly satisfying, especially with my iPhone, which keeps getting better and better for photography with every iteration.

While the old version of ProCamera had tons of features, I can’t say that I was a big fan of the interface. However, thanks to iOS 7, ProCamera 7 has received a major facelift, making it fit the aesthetics of the OS quite nicely, but without changing too much of what previous users are used to. The interface is flat and uncluttered, but the features remain the same, and it’s very intuitive to navigate your way around. There’s also the transparent header bar when viewing images, making it feel as native as ever. ProCamera 7 is as responsive as ever — I had no issues with lag or slow navigation on my iPhone 5.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

ProCamera 7, I tried out this app when it first came out. But since it has been upgraded to ProCamera 7, the new adjustments and interface have restored my faith in its easy navigation.Even if you don't think you're pro, this will give you the satisfaction that you might be.

JixiPix Photo-Editing Apps Let You Indulge Your Creative Inner Dabbler | Reviews | MacNewsWorld

JixiPix Photo-Editing Apps Let You Indulge Your Creative Inner Dabbler | Reviews | MacNewsWorld | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

If you yearn for the golden days of black-and-white photography or want to explore the possibilities, Dynamic Black & White is a great app to have. With the app's slider tools, you can fine-tune your photo in a dizzying number of ways. Sharpness, brightness and contrast controls are in the app, as well as tone and spotlight tools. The tone slider lets you add mood and depth to an image.

What's more, full-featured programs come with full-featured prices. That can put a damper on the creative fire of shutterbugs interested in experimenting with some of the alluring features of those apps.

Those creatives need not fret, however. There are single-purpose apps available at the Mac App Store that can give them a taste of some of the interesting things that can be done in a bloated image-editing suite.

One software developer, JixiPix, has an assortment of such single-purpose apps. Among them are Dramatic Black & White, Simply HDR and Pop Dot Comics.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

These apps all range in the photo editing world. But finding one that fine-tunes to your needs...well you're going to have to read between the lines and test them out. But as a black-and-white photo enthusiast, this one might be my pick. Maybe yours as well.

Frontback update adds tap-to-focus, image flipping and lets you ‘explore’ without an account - Programming Pakistan

Frontback update adds tap-to-focus, image flipping and lets you ‘explore’ without an account - Programming Pakistan | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Frontback, the increasingly popular dual-sided photo app for iOS, has added tap-to-focus and photo flipping features, in response to feedback, while it has removed the need to register to test out the service.

The latter change is a little misleading, since you'll need to register to save and share your first photo - as I found out - but you can at least play around with this two-sided take on photo apps without committing your life and soul to a username.

The new camera feature help take better photos when close up, in low light, high contrast or other conditions, and allow photos to be flipped to their mirror image - which is useful when they include text that's initially back to front.

And, yes of course, the app now supports iOS 7 like a bazillion others that are pushing out of updates today.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Pretty cool right? The front to back app, with that mirror image that happens to have text on it. You know what I'm talking about, that ridiculous moment when you share something in a store front window, that has a funny saying...yet it's backwards. Besides fixing the flipped image, it works in low light and macro best.

Fun iPhone Photo-Editing App PicLab Gets Turbocharged With Universal PicLab HD App -- AppAdvice

Fun iPhone Photo-Editing App PicLab Gets Turbocharged With Universal PicLab HD App -- AppAdvice | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

PicLab, the fun photo-editing app for iPhone and iPod touch, is now natively available on iPad — but as a new, separate app called PicLab HD. PicLab HD is a “turbocharged” version of PicLab that’s optimized for iPad as well as iPhone and iPod touch. Just like the original PicLab, PicLab HD enables you to enhance photos using text, artwork, light leaks, textures, filters, and more.

Beautiful Typography – You’ll love our carefully selected collection of fonts from some of the most talented designers from around the world. Easily add multiple text layers, controlling their size, positioning, opacity, rotation, and color.

Another thing worth noting is that with the free PicLab app, your photo edits are saved with a “PicLab” watermark located at the bottom right corner. To remove this watermark, and to unlock the app’s collection of masks at the same time, you have to avail of one of PicLab’s two $0.99 in-app purchase offers. The other $0.99 in-app purchase unlocks all of PicLab’s supported fonts.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Usually when we come across an app that we like, in the back of our mind, we want this for our tablet as well. Thankfully PicLab has done just that, now from the iPad. Keeping that touch of indie handiwork, this simply and fun program has become a favorite of mine. And being able to add text, happens to add to the photo even more so.

With last week copyright was a big thing, being discussed. And for PicLab to not only save your edits but paste a watermark on the bottom right corner...makes things a little easier.

Sony Releases API, Allows Developers to Create Apps for Its WiFi-Enabled Cameras

Sony Releases API, Allows Developers to Create Apps for Its WiFi-Enabled Cameras | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Developers rejoice, you have another API to play with. In a recent move that should help bring more Sony apps to market, the camera manufacturer has released an API that will allow you to develop remote control apps for 8 of its WiFi-enabled cameras.

Developers can already tinker with the QX100 and QX10, but all three NEX models listed must wait for version 2.0 of the Play Memories Smart Remote Control app to come out on September 26th, and one of the ActionCam models (HDR-AS15) will require a software update. Once the API is compatible with all of the initial cameras, more are set to be added to the list.

Interested developers can learn more about the API, access reference guides and check out a sample app on the development program’s website. You’ll also access to developer forums though which you can share ideas and troubleshoot, and US and Japan-based developers get the added bonus of official technical support from Sony itself.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Sony keeps coming out with more and more. This has just been added to the list, an API.

Quick and Simple Portrait Editing With Beautune | Mac.AppStorm

Quick and Simple Portrait Editing With Beautune | Mac.AppStorm | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

"I do some professional photography work when it’s called for (engagements, product shoots and sometimes event work), but I feel the need to clear the air even before it starts. I am as absolutely sick of terrible photo apps as you are. I hate all the photography apps that claim to be “the next big thing.” There’s a special place of disdain in my heart for photography apps that don’t do what they claim to do, or are, in effect, more time-consuming than doing similar work in Photoshop.

First of all, Beautune’s interface isn’t perfect. I want to make it exceeding clear, after my gushing, that although I love this app, it’s not perfect. For the most part, though, this is an app that’s a piece of cake to use. The interface is a big part of it."

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Easy and simple to use. Beautune has tools such as whiting teeth, lip tint and wrinkle remover. For a smooth portrait, Beautune has all the appeal.

Shadow Puppet Brings Voice Narration to the World of Photo Sharing

Shadow Puppet Brings Voice Narration to the World of Photo Sharing | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Love photo sharing but wish you could tell more of the story behind each photo as you share it? Shadow Puppet is a new app that’s designed to help you do just that. Rather than simply sharing photos by themselves or with text captions, the app lets you share sets of photographs while narrating what the recipient is seeing.

The app was created by reader Adrian Graham and Carl Sjogreen, who have worked at Google and Facebook. Graham spent three years at Google as the product manager for Picasa.

Once you tap the record button, all your sounds and actions are captured by the app. You can talk about the photos, zoom into them, tap areas in them to indicate what you’re talking about, and flip through the set.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Putting a story to your photos...can now happen. An app for all those story tellers out there that want to send their friends and family a little piece of what they love. So as a photographer, not only is this a perfect gem but as a nostalgic one, at least for the story teller that ususally says it through the digital image. Now it can transfer through a voice recording, remembering a summer day.

Divide And Edit iPhone Photos in Layers With Layrs Photo Editing App

Divide And Edit iPhone Photos in Layers With Layrs Photo Editing App | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Layrs is a free photo editing app which provides multi-layer editing on iOS devices like iPhone and iPad. Layrs is definitely a treat for mobile photographers, as it makes it possible for them to easily separate a photo into different layers and allows editing each layer individually.

Layr uses a proprietary technology which detects and cuts out objects with immense accuracy to create different layers. This makes it possible to divide the image in different layers and to manipulate each layer with various effects. You can then use these photos for anything from your personal picture collection to a PowerPoint Presentation or add them to your blog. In fact, Layrs might be an easy alternative to other image editing tools for editing and enhancing images for your personal projects.

To begin editing your photos, you can load pictures from your image library or take snaps right from within the Layrs app. The Layrs camera options works pretty much like the stock iOS camera, and only comes with a different skin. Before editing your photos, it might be worth heading over to the settings of the app to select a desired image quality.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

For the people that have a quick tap finger on their phones, and who love layers. I found this app highly fascinating, because with the fast edit and virtually easy to use. I could spend all day, coming up with different outcomes for just one photo.

Chirp Lets You Send Photos from Device to Device Using Sound

Chirp Lets You Send Photos from Device to Device Using Sound | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

The thinking behind the new Android and iOS app Chirp is that if animals in nature communicate through sound, machines should too. And so, the four person Animal Systems team created an app that does just that: no bluetooth, no email, no 'bumping' - images and other files are sent using only 2-second sound clips.

As you can see, the concept is extremely simple. Once you’ve selected a photo to share, all you have to do is hit the yellow button and any phone within earshot (or is it micshot?) that has the Chirp app open will receive the photo.

Since Chirp works exclusively through sound, there is no security, but the app has to be on and in the foreground in order to hear your chirp. On the up side, that means that sending a photo to tens of people at once is super easy. On the down side, any unwanted eavesdroppers will receive the file as well.

Basically, specific sound frequencies are assigned a number or letter by the app. When you take a photo or select a file, it’s assigned an alphanumeric code that is then encoded as sound in the “chirp.” When you press the button, the “chirp” broadcasts that code, which others running the app decode into a link and, ultimately, your photo. All of this happens in real time.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

This cool 'Chirp' app has to be clearly a new movement towards 'sound' messages. Or at least sending messages via sound system technology. Yes, you have the problem with the security features but the app's creators are more than likely going to add in what would be considered more of a 'messing app.' So this would be a cool app but just as long as you know who is around you.

Moodsnap: ‘World’s First’ Photo Playlist App | Evolver.fm

Moodsnap: ‘World’s First’ Photo Playlist App | Evolver.fm | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

MoodSnap founder and CEO David Blutenthal, you only have one solitary option for picking music by image, and it was released this morning: Moodsnap, “the world’s first image-based music streaming app.”

This app’s well-designed interface consists of a column of evocative images to swipe through — a couple staring away from each other; another couple definitely not staring away from each other; a jogger’s mid-stride foot; a beach party; and so on.

Tap the photo that strikes you, and you’re on your way. There’s no other way to select music in Moodsnap, although it does adapt to your taste as you favorite and skip songs. You don’t need buttons to control the music; instead, you think about where you want to go. Slide the song away to the left, and a new one starts. Slide the song down, and you’ll rise “above” it, triggering a song with a higher energy level. Slide the song down, and you’ll travel “down” to a track with a lower energy level.

Two more things to know: First, Moodsnap requires both iOS and Spotify Premium, (just like all the other iOS Spotify apps we rounded up earlier), so unless you have an iDevice and pay Spotify ten bucks a month, you’re not using it.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

How interesting is this. By adding this app, you can choose music that fits your mood, by selecting a photograph you like. Honestly sometimes I can't choose a song by how I feel, I need a an image representation of that emotion. And as a Spotify user you can save the songs that you hear.

App simplifies photo editing | Arab News — Saudi Arabia News, Middle East News, Opinion, Economy and more. | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Exbel, designed by Yaser AIMajed, a Saudi-based app developed and photographer, is a double exposure application for iPhone that creates impressive images in just a few minutes.

Exbel app is the most suitable application for iPhone users seeking to intergrate images in a simple manner. The designing and programming of the application is convenient as it allows you to capture an image directly and combine it wth another image from your gallery profile.

Normally, double exposure photos require starting with darker, silhouetted images against a clear background, and then applying a second image via layering techniques. Exbel tries to solve this problem by making the process easier.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

The Exbel app can elminate the use of an extensive time-consuming layering on Photoshop. Within minutes, being able to combine two photos...this is big. I could easily make a photo a double image or a movement based form of digital art. It may not be the exact results that you would achieve in Photoshop but it will come incredibly close.
