Adobe Photoshop Express for iOS 3.0

Adobe Photoshop Express for iOS 3.0 | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

"Adobe Photoshop is the industry leader when it comes to PC and Mac image editing software. Image editing is not something readily associated with mobile devices such as the iPhone and iPad, but Adobe Photoshop Express is a free app available for Apple devices that enables you to edit and share images from your device.

The app couples up with Photoshop.com. Adobe's online photo editing and sharing site, and makes it possible to not only edit images on your idevice, but also share them online. There are a wide range of basic editing tools available such as cropping, straightening, flipping and rotating, and it is also possible to adjust colour levels, saturation and other image settings."

Kitty Fisher's insight:

When ever I want to venture off into a new realm of possiblities with Photoshop, reading reviews can come in handy. This one is no different with the Adobe Photoshop Express for iOS 3.0.

I like to look for what filters are available and in this one, special effects such as vibrant, pop, vignette blur and more will be at your disposal.

Over-Editing in Photoshop: How to Avoid 25 Common Editing Mistakes

Over-Editing in Photoshop: How to Avoid 25 Common Editing Mistakes | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

"When photographers 1st start using Photoshop, it is so fun and exciting and over-editing often occurs. Here are the top mistakes often made and how to avoid them.

As a result, many start out playing with filters and plug-ins and over-use them. Sometimes photographers feel Photoshop is all powerful and take images that should have been in a reject pile, and they try to “save” them. As a rule, Photoshop should not be used to save unacceptable photos. If a photo is out of focus, blown out, severely under-exposed, or has really awkward composition, Photoshop will not make it drastically better.  Used in excess, it can actually make the image worse.

Some things like selective color definitely can fall into fads or cliches, meaning they were over-used for a period of time. While selective color edits occasionally look great, more often than not, it is overdone.  The best example I can think of is when a photo is turned black and white and the eyes are colored back to blue."

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Over-editing can get the better of our photographs. Getting lost or fed-up with Photoshop has happened a handful of times to all of us. But reading through what the cliche, common mistakes took the pressure off of my mind and helped me to focus on what could bring the photo more to life.

Movie Poster Credit Template for Photoshop - Eric Renno | TipSquirrel

Movie Poster Credit Template for Photoshop - Eric Renno | TipSquirrel | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

This template has the most common elements already typed out for your movie poster. Please give to the creators of this brilliant font.

To get the ‘Music by’ or ‘Costume Design’ for example takes just a simple keystroke.

It can be a bit time consuming to format it all though, so once I’d structured it for my group I thought I’d pop it up here for you to use in your projects too. This is a basic credit panel but there’s more included in the font if you need them.

Just install the font and open the PSD. You can drag the Credits layer over to your own project. Remember, you can resize the font to match your own project.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

When it comes to templates, for me it's hard to come across one that has a unique and classic quality. And a Movie Poster Credit Template has a scenere capturing authority, that can be used for a variety of different reason.

3 Reasons To Keep Your Old Photoshop Version

3 Reasons To Keep Your Old Photoshop Version | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

"If you’re moving from Photoshop CS5 or CS6 to Photoshop CC you may be tempted to clean up your computer and remove the older Photoshop version from it. After all there’s no point leaving it there if you’re not using it is there? Well I, for one, won’t be removing Photoshop CS5 anytime soon and I suggest you think twice about removing your older version too.

Adobe axed Picture Package quite a long time ago but it could be easily made to work with Photoshop CS5. For a time there I also had it running with Photoshop CS6 until an update to CS6 permanently knocked it out. So, because I like to use Picture Package for assembling images and because it works just fine with Photoshop CS5, I’ll be keeping that version"

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Why you should keep your old Photoshop, are you weary about switching to a new version. These 3 reasons may keep you from doing so.

Martin Evening's Retoucher's Guide - High-key portrait | Amateur Photographer

Martin Evening's Retoucher's Guide - High-key portrait | Amateur Photographer | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

"Martin Evening on how to create a high-key portrait.

The retouching work started in Lightroom, where I chose to add a blue cast and lighten the corners. I retouched this image using the Vignetting Amount slider in the Lens Corrections panel to apply the corner lightening. However, since Lightroom 3 and Camera Raw 6 the Effects panel can be used to apply a more controlled lightening (or darkening) vignette effect. I then used Photoshop for the remaining retouching and added a shadow mask layer to produce the rippled lighting effect seen in the final version."

Kitty Fisher's insight:

If you want to be skilled in the fashion editing world, this can help you. Or if you simply want a high-keyed portrait, this will guide you.

Mike Hoffman demonstrates how to extract images from a white background using simple channels techniques.

If you’re creating image composites, and especially if you’re working with stock images, you’ll find yourself needing to extract image elements from a white background. This can be a straightforward task with Photoshop, and often you’ll get better results with some of the old school techniques."

Kitty Fisher's insight:

That age old problem where an image has a white background, and we want to try out a different color. But if you don't quick select even the smallest amount of space, it can come out choppy and unprofessional.

Iconic Photos Show Editing Before Photoshop [Pics] - PSFK

Iconic Photos Show Editing Before Photoshop [Pics] - PSFK | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it
Prints from the darkroom of Pablo Inirio, Magnum Photos’ master printer, feature the hand-written edits that turn a photo into a memorable shot. A lot goes into making an iconic photograph – the subject, the composition, the backdrop, photographer, and the little talked about dark room retoucher. Pablo Inirio, long time master printer for photographer cooperative group, Magum Photos, has laid his hands on some of the most famous photos of all time. Now, pictures of the edits he has made, to make these photos what they ended up as, have surfaced.
Kitty Fisher's insight:

Before Photoshop, the darkroom was the only place Photographers could improve their image. Light area, add some contrast there...and all of it was down with outlines an diagrams. So seeing a before and after shot of classic images of old stars gives us the prefect example of how far we have come with 'what Photoshop is all about.'

At the moment Perfect Photo Suite 8 can be tested out by the pubilc. While other photoshops are going to have to follow in line, because nowdays, not just anyone is going to purchase a photoshop without gaining a little bit of knowledge about, what they are using. Even better in my opinion is that it can stand alone as an app or a plug in for Adobe Lightroom.

Adobe updates Photoshop for Creative Cloud with new Generator tool for dynamically exporting assets

Adobe updates Photoshop for Creative Cloud with new Generator tool for dynamically exporting assets | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Adobe has released Photoshop version 14.1 for Creative Cloud, a free update that includes a new tool called Generator for dynamically exporting assets from a project as individual image files. Generator arrives as an open source project. One automatically exports image assets into a special directory, while the other connects to Adobe’s Edge Reflow tool for responsive Web.

The exporting plugin works by generating asset files once a filetype has been appended to a layer group. As edits are made to the PSD file, Generator will update files in the background so that you don’t have to worry about re-exporting or using out-of-date files.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Coming across out-of-date files can be a recurring after you've edited a certain background file. But this tool literally lives up to the name, Generator.

As any photographer will know, regardless of what equipment they possess, or the quality of their technique, camera-derived art is as much based on post-capture processing, as it is on the pressing of a shutter button and all that leads up to it.
