Piclipse: Not Your Typical Photo Editor « TheiPhoneAppReview.com | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

The Piclipse app is the ultimate photo editor on the go. It goes beyond what a general photo editing app can do and perceive. With over forty different and unique editing filters, you will be torn between so many to apply to your favorite photos.

Common features such as text addition, color control, and convenient individual effect removal are still a part of this distinct app. It doesn’t stop there though.

You also have the ability to turn your photos into slide shows with music you can snag form your device’s library. Want to showcase your creation? Save the slide show(s) in video file format and email it to your friends and family. Want to get the perfect shot of something or someone in motion.

With a sleek interface and a nice contrasting backdrop, all editing features are noticeable and recognizable. Each editing option is highlighted and obvious, and with a few taps here and there anyone can figure how to use each feature and what it does for the user.

Filters are identifiable on the bottom of the screen and additional editing options are available on the upper right and left had corners.  Instant edited photo sharing via personal social network accounts such as Twitter and Facebook is also made easy.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

When a photo editor app is described as, not your ordinary app...you've caught my attention. A favorite detail of mine happens to be the slideshow were you can add music to it. Okay that's just something I would do, but there a plenty of other things that you need to check out on Piclipse.

Houzz Has Your Image Rights, How Long Before They’re Selling Them?

Houzz Has Your Image Rights, How Long Before They’re Selling Them? | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

It may already be too late. Houzz appears to be using the images posted by professional photographers to illustrate editorial stories they create for the front of the site.

One photographer was contacted by a staff writer to find out who built what was depicted in the images with no mention of licensing the images for this reuse.

It’s not unusual for social media sites to have onerous terms when it comes to posting your images on their site. Generally this is because they have to host the images on servers which may be located anywhere in the world and repost the images at will for other people to see. To solve this they take all your rights… We’re all suspicious of what might come next but so far that’s been the extent of what they do. Houzz has taken the first step in reuse that should be of great concern for professional photographers. Paying writers to create editorial content with images uploaded to the site competes directly with existing editorial outlets that pay for a similar use. So not only are they ripping off photographers they’re stealing readers from outlets with their free content. And as Houzz works towards a profitable business model they will start selling advertising against their freely obtained content… and their evil plan will be complete.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

No matter what media giant you tend to load your photos too, they may have that problem where they use your photos. Houzz has now joined the ever growing list of sites to be concerned about.

Photoshop Tutorials just in time for Halloween, InDesign and when Big Data and Graphic Arts Collide

Photoshop Tutorials just in time for Halloween, InDesign and when Big Data and Graphic Arts Collide | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Just in time for Halloween, who doesn't want to spend a little time on Photoshop to create a gruesome or playfully cute , creepy piece of art? Here you will find a batch of ideas from the haunted house, spooky text to the legendary two face from the Batman comics. Some tutorials may be a bit more of challenge but it'll give you more of a grasp about parts of Photoshop, you may not have known about before. Remember to have fun, creating those spectacular graphic effects!

Switching software, usually means that learning curve and if we can avoid it, we will. Do you have a publication that is a multi-page or possibly a writer? I had to try this out since from time to time, I tend to lend a hand with a few music publications. And trust me, if you are on the go and do not have the time to re-edit a layout and pray that you don't mess up the data. By changing a few lines...this is a tool that you should switch to.

In conjunction with graphic art design, a new computer program has been developed to let graphic artists use a 'RealBrush.' Big Data has helped make RealBrush a reality, using algorithms. Making online painting, more vibrant and collectively realistic, instead of choppy. This program is one of a kind, at some point you can use the samples as a baseline to create your own sort of brush stroke and designs.

Cloudy with a chance of Photoshop - Tech News | The Star Online

Cloudy with a chance of Photoshop - Tech News | The Star Online | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

Adobe’s photo-editor software gets its annual refresh with tweaks and new features, but its biggest change is the move to a subscription model. Adobe has tweaked and added more features to Photoshop Creative Cloud (Photoshop CC), making an already good image-editing application even better.

However, what Photoshop CC adds is a number of new tools, most notably a Camera Shake Reduction filter (accessible from Filter\Sharpen\Shake Reduction in the menus). This filter actually reduces motion blur caused by camera shake and actually produces a much sharper photo from a shot that is normally unusable.

In use, it actually works okay and there are a number of sliders that allow you to increase or decrease the effect. There are limits to how much shake can be reduced in a photo but if you’ve ever had shots that have been ruined by slight camera shake, this may actually be able to save it. Again something that will interest photographers is that Photoshop CC also features an improved upscaling feature if you want to enlarge your photographs beyond its original size. It does seem to do a good job, although again, don’t expect it to add details back into an image where there was none to begin with.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

No more throwing away those camera shake or blurred images. Even when it seems that no matter how much you sharpen them (they just come out looking worse than before because you have no trace of what the real detailed image is). Well Photoshop CC has improved even further, adding their Camera Shake Reduction, which can fix your photo to how it was suppose to come out.

How to Transition from Photoshop to InDesign - SitePoint

How to Transition from Photoshop to InDesign - SitePoint | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

In case you decided to switch from Adobe Photoshop to Adobe InDesign, you may feel a bit intimidated like I did. It’s a new piece of software, and that usually implies some (usually steep) learning curve. Guess what? You got it all wrong. It was easy, painless, and for the most part I was able to transition seamlessly.

First thing’s first, why do you feel the need to switch over to InDesign in the first place? In most cases, you’ve been handed a project by a client that is in the .indd file format. Or, maybe you’re latest project is a multi-page publication.

InDesign allows you to define a layout and then gives writers the ability to change up the content on the fly without destroying your well-designed layout. Sure, you can try to design a 12-page publication in Photoshop, but you can be sure of one thing — the editors are going to come in at the last minute and want a bunch of new content added or cut out. This can completely change your layout and which text flows from one page to the next.

InDesign is going to be your best bet if you want to have quick control of the global document without having to mess with multiple documents in Photoshop.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Have you felt like switching from Adobe Photoshop to Adobe InDesign? InDesign I think would be more for the magazine publications, or in another case if you are the illustrator...and you've been handed a work-load towards the end of your day. This could become your life saver.

Create a colorful explosion retro inspired design | I Love Photoshop

Create a colorful explosion retro inspired design | I Love Photoshop | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

This tutorial will teach you how to create a design featuring a colorful explosion contrasting with grayscale elements. This design heavily relies on the creative use of brushes, patterns and Photoshop tools/effects.

Though this tutorial was created in Photoshop CS5, you should have no problems achieving the same effect in any CS version.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Retro is a colorful expression that will never fail to be present. Between the pin-up, 1950's, retro look you'll want to leave a bit of black and white as well as glam, mixed together and spread apart...to give out the appeal you are looking for. It's easy to get over zealous with colors...but knowing when to tone it down and make it, stand on it's own...now that's great photoshop.

10 Tips for Post-Processing Images in iPhoto | Mactuts+

10 Tips for Post-Processing Images in iPhoto | Mactuts+ | Photo Editing Software and Applications | Scoop.it

You don’t need Photoshop to make your photos look good. Not only is it difficult to learn all of the fancy features it offers, it’s also not necessary for you to spend nearly half your Mac’s value on a photo editor when Apple includes one for free.

You’ve undoubtedly heard of iPhoto, a photo management app developed by Apple and pre-installed on all Macs. It looks basic, but there’s a lot of power hiding behind that edit button. In this tutorial, I’ll show you ten ways to make your photos look more professional using iPhoto.

iPhoto has a built-in tool for fixing imperfections. It’s called Retouch and is available in the Quick Fixes tab of the edit sidebar, which can be accessed through the pencil button in the bottom right of the screen. To use Retouch, click it and find a portion of your photo that needs to be removed.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

iPhoto, has to be the rival for Photoshop. This app made by Apple and this happens to be one of the more professional editing tools out there. With concert photography, between the digital noise, smoke and motion movement. It can be hard on the photographer, but learning to use iPhoto can clean up your images so they can be used.
